Tōge and Touge
Tōge and Touge is the same thing just a different way of interpreting the phonetic translation it’s pronounced Toe-Geh.
Touge for me is finding a good road where I can have some fun, put the car through its paces and see how well the modifications that I have done to the car hold up against it. The word ‘Touge’ in Japanese is ‘Pass’ and its about driving your car about on the mountain roads mainly in Japan, this does not mean drifting and most certainly is not just for rear-wheel drive cars sliding their rear-end out. Although I also love drifting but Touge is most certainly not just about drifting, it’s about having a home course where you practice on to understand the road, in turn understanding your car and how it reacts to your movements and instructions. For me a touge also means meeting new friends, exchanging ideas, helping each other out with car problems and just generally hang out. Touge in Japan is basically a synonym for street racing but having unwritten regulations which have different types of races and whoever is passionate about going fast they will obey these and race with their hearts out.
My aim is to find as much of the most beautiful, interesting, challenging and breath-taking roads as possible.
